Not the best drums in this price range. This set is just OK for the money, I think there are much better kits on the market at this price level. The shells are not well crafted, I have wrinkles in drum heads caused by uneven spots in the edges – the heads are not well seated. The hardware seems heavy enough not to break, but looks like very cheap metal, so time will tell. Mapex is known for high quality drum hardware, so I thought the peripherals such as hi-hat stand and drum pedal would be a bit better than other brands at this…

Both maple and birch wood are noted and … I know all the comments about inferior cymbals and so on, but after research, (cymbals aside) it appears that the manufacturer is well respected. Also research into how the drum shell is made is by either using woods or synthetics, it appears that wood is most desired.
