Due to the development of a top-notch ultra-high quality steel core, Martin SP strings resist breakage better than average strings. In addition, both the core wires and the plain strings are plated with a smooth, acoustic bronze finish. A Nice Sounding Set of Strings. A great set of strings, though wouldn’t recommend these for the beginner who hasn’t built up their calluses yet. (would recommend the lights for that). The sound of these strings are GREAT on my Appalachian. (A $100 knock off of a martin acoustic, with a very similar sound to the original martin, to boot. ) The only major draw back to these strings is that they will cut into your fingers if your a beginner or haven’t played in a while, but I do think the sound quality does adequately compensate…
