Bought these to replace my last oak drumsticks… which lasted 9 years! I purchased these sticks after my last oak drumsticks cracked… after 9 years of constant use. Seriously, this is the best kind of wood you can buy for durability. Nothing like having Japanese Wood in your Hands. They are Long, Thick and Hard. They make you want to stroke them to truly appreciate their origin over their American counterparts……. I prefer the Shoguns due to the weight of the Japanese wood feeling more porous and seems not to be as slippery in my hand as American woods. My son has to use Vic Firth 5A sticks for band practice in school. I bought him these because he’s really into shogun, samurai and ninjas and these sticks have the word “Shogun” and Japanese characters on them. He thinks they are really cool and if that translates into more practice time I’m happy too. How are they for drummers who care about the sticks and not the words on them?
