Shaved nut The nut was purchased to replace the plastic nut on my fathers old mandolin. With the old nut it would hold a note for for approx .5 to 1 sec.The tusq improved the tone quality and gave it a more reasonable sustain time (3-5 seconds). It was easy to install. I only had to shave it slightly to achieve proper string height, also had to move the bridge out futher due to itonation issue at the 12 fret. My only advise prior to purchase would be to measure the width of your bridge to insure proper…
