While I have the floor here’s my take on coated vs. non-coated: With coated strings you don’t have to change strings as often, and that saves wear and tear on the bridgeplate. If you play or gig regularly, that’s important. As far as the cost, at least for me anyway, it’s a draw. Coated lasts twice as long but cost twice as much, so I don’t save any money by going with non-coated. It boils down to just how much money I want to spend at…
